“BUILD A SANCTUARY FOR CHILDREN” – Ps Danie Terblanche 2015

This was the WORD (seed) in the beginning of starting South Gate Academy straight out of the heart of God calling Overberg Christian Family Church to look into the future, to hear His voice and to obey His Living Word.

“You will bring them in and plant them on your
own mountain—the place, O Lord, reserved for your own dwelling,
the sanctuary, O Lord, that your hands have established.” – Ex 15:17

The Overberg Christian Family Non Profit Company has been serving the schools and communities of Cape Agulhas the last 10 years through the Education Connection program. This has set the foundation in establishing South Gate Academy Private Christian School in partnership with Overberg Christian Family Kingdom Community. This is one of the many ways God has called this community in building a sanctuary to develop young people through excellent quality education, mentorship and training.

Our Educational Approach & Curriculum

Educational approach:
At South Gate Academy we have a BLENDED learning approach and focus on developing quality reading, writing, math and thinking skills, exposing your child to a stimulating learning program which is age appropriate and relevant. Our team places a high value on individual character and skill development in collaboration with parents. English is the primary teaching and learning language. We focus on Individualised & Mastery Based learning through tested curriculum and skill development project based programs.

Curriculum:
We use the AEE (Accelerated Education Enterprises) Pre School and Foundation Phase materials as our core paper based curriculum.
These are combined with various alternative methods, materials, projects and activities to stimulate learning and discovery of the child’s skill and interests (Blended learning).

We use the digital online curriculum called SwitchedOn Education  (accredited SAQA level 4) for grade 4-9. This curriculum will enable the learner to develop and learn at their own pace and mastery levels. The learner can personalise and customise their unique learning pathway. This is a first of its kind in our district.
The academic year of the learner starts when they enrol and after completing the placement test (if needed). Learners will also be able to excel into a new grade/level within the same year still.
Learners will qualify their matric with an American High School Diploma (accepted at Universities in SA and across the world).

Extra Curricular:
We give attention to the following as part of our holistic approach to development of learners:
– Sport, Music, Creative Arts, Dance & Drama
– Abacus Maths (specialised programs – extra costs involved)
